DIY Cruella Deville Costume

Halloween always makes me want to bring out a side that no one expects. Being a puppy loving, smile adorned, and (usually) non-aggressive type, Cruella Deville was the perfect opposite character for me.

Cruella is ultimately very glamorous, and really fun to portray with her over the top hair, clothing, and makeup. Once I found a black and white wig, the major components left were a sleek, black dress, red gloves, a fabulous fur, and green accessories. I purchased a cheap black dress and red gloves, and then made the fur from a yard of faux fur from Joann’s and the accessories from green paper.

Honestly, I still haven’t decided which costume (Sia or Cruella) I am wearing what night this weekend… or really exactly what I am doing this weekend for Halloween at all!  I will most likely be heading out to the rambunctious Montrose Halloween bar crawl on Saturday since people fill the streets adorned in amazingly over the top costumes, and I really can’t say no to that kind of people watching. Friday is still up in the air… backup plan is to be Cruella on the couch with a big mug of fireside apple cider and some Halloween movies. What are y’alls plans? Anything in Houston I’m missing out on?

DIY Green Cigarette, Earrings, and Ring

Green Paper
Tape
Hot Glue
Stud Earrings
Ring
Scissors

  • To make the cigarette, cut a piece of green paper that is 12″ x 6″ and roll it into a small tube. Tape it closed along the open edge.
  • To make the earrings, cut two small circles of green paper. Place a dab of hot glue on the back of each of the paper circles and attach them to the studs. The stud earrings can be any metal ones that you already own since the hot glue will easily peel right off. Just do not use any of your best diamonds and pearls…
  • To make the ring, cut a large circle out of the green paper. Add a dab of hot glue to the back of the paper and attach it to the ring. This can be any ring you already have that has a relatively flat face on top. Similarly to the studs, the paper and glue can be easily peeled off later.
