Baking Cookies in Monstrous Proportions: Monster Cookie Recipe

Monster Cookies by Bunny Baubles Blog

There are so many cookie recipes out there, it’s hard to say I have a favorite. I’m a sucker for a fantastic peanut butter cookie recipe (check mine out here). Then there are oatmeal raisinΒ that are so comforting and make the entire house smell like grandma’s. A classic fallback are good ole chocolate chip cookies, which I tend to make the most. But really, why pick one when you could have them all?

A MONSTER of a cookie is what you’ll get when you put them all together. These babies pack the peanut butter, oatmeal, and chocolate all into one!

I inherited this recipe from a family friend in my childhood. The recipe called for all of the normal ingredients I was used to…but how many cups of oats were in there?! It was seriously monstrous, a recipe yielding 100 massive cookies. Turns out the recipe was meant to feed a literal army… makes more sense.

Anyhow, I cut the recipe and scooped the dough a little smaller (baking them at such a huge size made them really hard to scrape off the pan) and here you have my absolute favorite cookie recipe! Monster cookies are ooey gooey goodness in the middle with a great crunch from the corn syrup caramelizing the bottoms. Every time I throw these babies together I end up eating two cookies worth of dough and then like three actual cookies. It’s a problem. Guess I need to find an army to save me from these monsters, eh?

Monster Cookies

  • Servings: 2 dozen cookies
  • Time: 20-25 mins
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

Ingredients:

3 Eggs
1 1/8 cup Brown Sugar
1 cup Sugar
1 tsp. Light Corn Syrup
2 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 cup Butter (1 stick)
1 cup Peanut Butter
4 1/2 cups Oats
1/2 pound M&M’s

1. Preheat the oven to 350 deg F. Mix everything together in a large bowl in the order listed, with the exception of the M&M’s.

2. Scoop the cookie dough in tablespoonfuls onto a cookie sheet a few inches apart. Place 5-6 M&M’s in each cookie concentrated in the center (they will spread out when the cookies expand in the oven).

3. Bake cookies for about 10-12 minutes, or until they are just slightly golden brown on top. Take the cookie sheet out of the oven and let it cool on a cooling rack for about a minute so they set. You can then easily scrape them off onto the cooling rack with a spatula.

Serve with a big glass of milk to fight off any monstrous food comas that might come your way post cookies eating!
